About Us
The Flatiron Archive
The LORD was ready to save me; therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of
our life in the house of the LORD.
 Isaiah 38:20
In 1987 Gibson was
sufficiently impressed
with the storied
Flatiron Mandolin
Company to purchase
the shop and hire its
staff. Ten years later
economics dictated
that the Bozeman,
Montana, operation
be consolidated with
Gibson's banjo and
Dobro divisions in
Nashville. Virtually all
of Flatiron's
employees declined
the relocation.
Husband-and-wife
team Bruce and Mary
Weber instead
founded their own
company, Sound To
Earth, to carry on the
tradition of fine
luthery that had
earned Flatiron the
respect of
mandolinists
worldwide.

This one is still my
personal favorite!  Hated
to see it go but I know
the new owner is still
enjoying it!
