| I picked this up in McGrath Alaska in 1990, from a friend who bought it at Back Porch Productions in Montana. They named it "Pearl" (for the tiny inlayed pearls on the fret bars). I paid a fortune back then ($500). I had been using an old pot bellied mandolin that I had bought in Rome back when I was 18. It had sustained a break from some over exuberant kids up in Nome, and back then I was too nice to Bark! That mandolin survived, but it was tricky playing cowboy tunes on it. McGrath had 500 people back then (less now), but wouldn't you know it, the talent came out of the logwork. We had banjos and fiddles, guitars and such comraderie. I felt the stiff price for "Pearl" was well worth it. She's bright, loud and easy to play. I felt she deserved a little recognition. So are there any other Flatiron 2M-F's out there? Thanks!
